Parks and Recreation

Mayville-Portland has all kinds of things to keep you fit and help you relax. Whether it is organized sports like hockey, basketball, and baseball, or playing in one of our parks, including our water park, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spend time with the family.

Parks

Island Park is located on North Dakota Highway 200 in Mayville. As the name implies, the park is mostly surrounded by water from an oxbow of the Goose River. It has both sheltered and open picnic areas to accommodate hundreds, or just a few, and a playground. A beautiful bridge connects it with the streets and sidewalks of Mayville.

Rainbow Gardens adds color to our lush green community. Located on the north side of ND Highway 200 across from Island Park, Rainbow Gardens is manicured by the local garden club.


 


Pioneer Park is located adjacent to Island Park in Mayville. The park includes a log cabin and is a tribute to early settlers of the area.
     





The Portland Park in northwest Portland will soon be home to the Portland equine park. The Portland Park is located on the Goose River and is a beautiful setting for a Sunday outing or family reunion.


The Mayville Park District has a lot to offer for summer campers in a beautiful park setting. Mayville’s Water Park features one of the largest waterslides in the region. Kids of all ages love to have fun in the sun! Contact the water park at 701.788.5021.
     



Recreation

Experience the Mayville Golf Club! This mature course is one of the finest nine-hole courses in the state. It is public and available for events, groups, or singles.

 

 




 

 

 

 

 

 

The Wellness Center on the campus of Mayville State University is a health club for members that includes:

              •  aerobic and dance area
              •  fitness area
              •  locker rooms
              •  showers
              • courts for intramurals, team practices, and special events
              • walking path
              • indoor swimming pool

 
If you’re into indoor skating, the MayPort Community Center is your place for fun. This indoor hockey and ice skating arena is home to the Ice Dawgs – an area hockey club for boys and girls - Mites to Jr. Gold. An adult hockey league also meets weekly to keep your skates sharp!

You can be part of Mayville-Portland’s Horseshoe Club! The Horseshoe Club meets regularly during the summer at Island Park. They also host area and regional meets.
